Formula 1’s 2027 calendar brings back two circuits: Portimão in Portugal on June 20 and Istanbul Park in Türkiye on October 3. Neither has hosted a Grand Prix since 2021. That gap makes old results a poor guide to performance, particularly when comparing race-winner odds available through the 1xBet app for Android with current team form and circuit characteristics. Teams will arrive with different cars and tyres, making practice and qualifying data more relevant. The September 16 calendar confirms 24 races and ten Sprint weekends, but neither returning event will use the Sprint format.
Portimão returns to the summer schedule
The Portuguese Grand Prix will take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from June 18 to 20, with Sunday’s race following practice and qualifying. Formula 1 agreed a two-year deal covering 2027 and 2028. The circuit previously hosted the championship in 2020 and 2021, when changes to the racing calendar created opportunities for venues outside its regular rotation. Lewis Hamilton won both Portuguese Grands Prix held at Portimão in 2020 and 2021, but those results cannot establish how current teams will perform there.
Portimão is known for steep climbs, blind crests and fast elevation changes across its 4.653-kilometre layout. Drivers must manage a car that becomes lighter over crests before settling under braking. Its final downhill section also puts a premium on traction onto the main straight. These characteristics make earlier performance at the circuit an interesting reference, but cars and driver lineups will have changed considerably since 2021.
Istanbul Park’s Turn 8 returns in October
Türkiye’s comeback follows a separate five-year agreement keeping Istanbul Park on the schedule through 2031. The Turkish Grand Prix runs from October 1 to 3, with Sunday’s race taking place between the Azerbaijan and Singapore rounds. The 5.338-kilometre track hosted its first Formula 1 race in 2005 and last appeared in 2021.
Its best-known feature is Turn 8, a long, multi-apex left-hander that places sustained demands on tyres and car balance. The circuit also includes significant elevation changes and heavy braking zones. Teams will have to reconcile high-speed cornering performance with straight-line efficiency. For anyone assessing eventual qualifying or podium markets, that combination makes practice pace and tyre behaviour more useful than assumptions based on a venue’s reputation.
Two familiar tracks, different commitments
The returns were announced through separate agreements before the complete calendar was published. Their positions and contract lengths now give fans a clearer picture of Formula 1’s European and Asian schedule.
| Detail | Portugal | Türkiye |
| Circuit | Portimão | Istanbul Park |
| 2027 race date | June 20 | October 3 |
| Previous race | 2021 | 2021 |
| Agreement | 2027–2028 | 2027–2031 |
Portugal follows Monaco in the European sequence, while Türkiye sits between Azerbaijan and Singapore later in the championship. Their inclusion does not increase the race total beyond 24; the calendar accommodates them within the existing number of rounds.
Mobile coverage and changing race markets
The newly confirmed dates allow supporters to save practice, qualifying and race sessions in a phone calendar. Live timing and official classification throughout each race weekend establish what has happened on track, while sportsbook screens show prices for outcomes that have not yet been decided. Those are different types of information. A driver moving up the timing sheet may influence betting odds, but a practice lap does not guarantee qualifying or race performance.
Mobile bettors will also need to distinguish pole-position selections from race-winner markets. Weather, tyre choices and grid penalties can affect each differently. An early outright price should not be treated as a prediction backed by evidence from either circuit’s 2027 sessions, which have not taken place.
Ten Sprint weekends elsewhere on the calendar
The 2027 programme increases Sprint events from six to ten. Portugal and Türkiye are scheduled as conventional Grand Prix weekends, so their sporting timetable differs from rounds with additional competitive sessions. The broader season includes Sprint appearances at Monaco, Silverstone and Monza, among other venues.
Before these returns, several details remain worth watching:
- The confirmed 2027 driver and team lineups
- Updates to circuit preparation and track conditions
- Tyre selections published before each race
- Weather forecasts and practice-session data
These factors will shape race preparations and provide better evidence for any betting assessment than old results alone. The central news is already settled: Portimão returns in June, Istanbul Park follows in October, and both circuits are back on Formula 1’s confirmed calendar.
